Obituary

Christine was born on September 22, 1925 from the union of George White and Doreatha Scott.  She attended and graduated from Fifth Avenue High School.  After graduating she married Edgar Pickett and from that union came her beloved son Leon Pickett.  Christine lived in the Hill District of Pittsburgh for many years where she worked at the Hurricane.  Christine eventually obtained employed at the Hilton Hotel as a housekeeper.

Christine loved the Lord and accepted Him at an early age.  She joined Calvary Baptist Church where she was a long time member.  Christine loved gospel music and often assisted with bringing different gospel quartets to the church to perform and worship.    She also organized trips for the church members.

Christine loved music and classic movies.  She would often take her mother and son to see various gospel quartets.  She also loved artists like Jackie Wilson and James Brown.  Christine enjoyed going to the movie theatre to watch classic movies with family and friends.  She often traveled with her son to visit family in South Carolina and Atlanta.  Christine was also known for her amazing cooking; especially soul food and she would host parties that she catered for.

Christine was a very kind and helpful woman.  It was truly a blessing to have a mother like her.  She would help anyone who found themselves in need, as long as they never dared to take her kindness for weakness.

Christine transitioned on Saturday, February 24, 2024.  Christine will be eternally missed by her loved ones and friends. Christine leaves to cherish her memory her one and only son, Leon Pickett.
