Jo Alice Snow Galloway a wonderful woman of GOD was born October 25, 1944, in the heart of Birmingham, Alabama. She joined her eternal rest with the ancestors on November 1, 2023 leaving behind a legacy that future generations will honor and cherish.
Jo Alice was the last of 9 children born to John and Alice Holcomb. Her journey through life was marked by unwavering devotion to her principals and an unshakable faith in the power of GOD. Growing up in Galilee Baptist Church, she accepted Christ at an early age, and she served God in various compacities including in the church choir. She enjoyed listening to and singing many genres of music from country to gospel and everything in between. Her faith nurtured her and equipped her to nurture others. Her work at Friendship Community Church, was legendary as she embraced children, and was the happy face of Friendship to first time visitors and members. To all the members she was a "sweets lady".
Jo Alice attended Lincoln Elementary and Parker High School. After marrying Willie (Bobby) Snow, they moved to New York to start their new life together. After identifying the rugged nature of New York, they determined that Pittsburgh would be a better fit for her. Upon moving to Pittsburgh, she gave birth to her shining star Jo Ann Snow. This experience gave additional inspiration for her life as she nurtured protected and provided for Jo Ann,and subsequently other children. She worked for the Diocese of Pittsburgh as an advocate for child safety. Her love and dedication left an indelible impression on generations of students.
She leaves to cherish her legacy Jo Ann Snow (daughter), Mary Louise McCallum (sister), Douglas Galloway (husband), Bernice Holcomb (Sister-in-law) and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 11am at Friendship Community Church, 181 Robinson Street, Pittsburgh, PA. 15213.
