Joseph Wilbon, 105, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 21, 2023. He was born on April 1, 1918 to the late Horace Wilbon, Sr. and Emma Rabon in Bronwood, GA. Joseph was among six siblings – Henry, Maggie, Fannie, Raybon, Horace and Rushia.

In 1941 he enlisted in the U.S. Army - Air Force and served four years. He obtained the rank of Corporal in the 6th Aviation Squad, 610th AAF Bu, Army of the United States. In 2017, the US Department of Verteran Affairs honored Joseph at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall as the eldest surviving member of his squad.

In 1953 Joseph left his family's farm to live with his uncle Bennie Rabon in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, where he worked for J and L Steel until his retirement. He later moved to East Liberty neighborhood of Pittsburgh, where he became a community leader. Joseph was an active member and board member of the Christian Tabernacle Church and also served as a Harty Bible School Trustee.

In 1963 he married Sandy Johnson and together they had three wonderful children: Charnedda, Kevin and Joey. Joseph was a man of many titles – Husband, Son, Father, Brother, Uncle, Grandfather and yet his greatest title was a Child of the Most High God.

He is preceded in death by his wife Sandra Wilbon; and his siblings: Henry "Book Wilbon, Fannie Bell Wilbon, Raybon Wilbon, and Horace Wilbon, Jr. He leaves to cherish his memory his children: Charnedda Wilbon, Kevin (Tania) Wilbon and Joseph Wilbon.; grandchildren: Charnedda, Ricky, Kayla, Kayonna, Kay'arra, Avoni, Amber, Joey, Magale, Lester and Anthony; a  host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Services will be held at the Christian Tabernacle Church on Saturday, May 27, 2023        Visitation: 11am-1pm            Service: 1pm
