Obituary

Leslie Daryl Biglow was called to eternal rest on July 25, 2024, after a long and heroic battle with cancer. In the words of the hospital physician, "he was a real warrior" as many had never witnessed such a fight for life and family.  That sentiment resonated throughout his life.

Leslie was born February 13, 1963, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Sarah M. Biglow (deceased) and James Biglow (deceased). He was also preceded in death by his stepson Steven Regan; who he called his #1 son and in turn was called #1 dad.

"Bigs" or "Les" as he was affectionately called by many, graduated from Schenley High School in 1981. He was a passionate member of the Spartan band where he played the trumpet and marched with vigor. Bigs also remained active in music outside of school as a horn instructor with The Thunderherd Drum and Bugle Corp of Sahara Temple.  He loved all his fellow musicians in Sahara Temple and spoke fondly of all the cities where they marched. He proudly reminded friends that the band won the most prestigious awards where they competed against marching bands from around the country. The band and the horn section received national admiration and recognition for their skills.

Bigs attended West Virginia University majoring in Music.  Bigs also attended drafting school in downtown Pittsburgh, earning a certificate of completion.  Upon completing drafting school, Leslie was employed by Childs Equipment Company where he was a Computer Aided Draftsman for many years.  After that company closed, he went on to work for CVS Caremark in RIDC Park where he assisted patients and medical professionals with processing pharmacy prescription claims.  Then, he found his entrepreneurial spirit and pursued his dream of music production and was a co-founder of the Underground Hip-hop Video Magazine (UHHVM) which aired on local television. Later, a new vision for business became his lasting determination and dream, he established himself with restaurants and a food truck. He was determined to make the best BBQ.

Bigs adored his family and thoroughly enjoyed getting together for the annual Memorial Day "Grand Cookout" at Schenley Park, as well as all the holiday gatherings with family and friends.  He wanted to find a way to keep all those cherished memories so family could remember the joys and share them with future generations.   So, he thought, what better way than to capture them in video and pictures; hence "Famboo" was born. Famboo basically means "Fam"ily and "Boo" as an affectionate name he liked to call the little ones even into young adults.  He gathered video footage and pictures of each household decorating and preparing for the Christmas season.  Once he had everything he needed, he used the video app on his computer to edit and format to put it all together.  There is a total of 3 Famboo family videos that he posted on Facebook under: "Famboo"

Bigs was a father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and confidante to many. He relentlessly loved his family and friends. He could cheer you up with words of inspiration and his "you got this" spirit.  He could turn anyone's gray cloudy day into a bright sunny day.  His legacy of love, music, life and business conversations will always be in our hearts and minds. Leslie is survived by his loving wife of 28 years Lori Regan Biglow, his Goddaughter (daughter) Charlie L. Simmons Gilliam (Draper), and her little ones who call him Pap-Pap; Kyle; Karson, and Kane; his beloved sisters Barbara Hawthorne, Essie Mae Biglow, Darlene Ross and Brothers Randoph Adams (Ida), James Biglow Jr., and Marshall Biglow (Carolyn) all of Pittsburgh, PA, and a host of Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
