IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Raymond P
Davis
June 6, 1944 – January 29, 2023
Raymond Perry Davis passed into the warm embrace of the Lord on Sunday, January 29, 2023. He was born on June 6, 1944, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and was raised in a loving family with Frank and Ada Woods, where he attended Bellevue High School. Upon graduation, Ray enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed at Shaw Airforce Base in Sumter, South Carolina, where he serviced for four years. As part of his duties, he served as military police with the 363rd Air Police Squadron. Prior to receiving an honorable discharge, he and his then wife, Patricia, celebrated the birth of their only child, Michael. From the south to the mid-west, he relocated his family to Dayton, Ohio where he got a job working for one of the largest tire manufacturing companies in Dayton. Ray's interests, however, went beyond the manufacturing sector, he later developed an interest in electronics and repair. He then began taking basic electrical classes to further his understanding of electronics. Upon finishing, he was able to land a job with Authorized Services, where he received more training on small and large appliance repairs. This led to his long-time job as a service repairman for Sears, from where he retired. Ray was always working on makeshift projects or tinkering with washers or dryers. He had such an enthusiastic curiosity to understand how every part of these appliances worked, he would spend hours taking them apart and reassembling them. This dedication paid off because he excelled at his job as a top repair technician. While on a call from work, he met the love of his life, Mildred. They shared a life together until the progression of his illness.
Ray also enjoyed helping others with any projects, from plumbing to electrical and became known as "Mr. Fix It". He was an avid tennis player and fan. He enjoyed playing on a regular basis. Although, he was a regular attendee of pro tennis tournaments. Raymond made his dream trip in 2010 to the US Tennis Open in New York City with his son. He felt this was the ultimate fan experience. He was an outgoing, fun-loving individual with a calming presence, and he always had a warm smile and kind words for anyone he met. His guidance and words of wisdom will be missed.
He is survived by his son, Michael Davis and daughter-in-law Autumn; his granddaughters, Maya Davis, Imara Davis and his great-grandson Mason Williams; wife Mildred Davis; and a host of extended family and friends.
