William Germany was born on July 17, 1939 to Garl and Sophia Germany. William was also known as "Mokey". He was educated in the Pittsburgh School System. Mokey was an avid painter which led him to open his own painting company, where he employed a host of family and friends,
Mokey was a founding member of the group El-capris in 1954 at the tender age of 15. The El-Capris won a local talent contest on July 4, 1955and earned an audition with Bullseye Records. After the audition they were offered a contract on the spot which led to them recording hits Shimmy Shimmy Ko Ko Wop, Ivy League Clean, and Oh But She Did. They would later perform at Harlem's landmark Apollo Theatre. The El-Capris continued touring the East Coast nightclub circuit until 1970. A quarter century later, co-founder Mokey and Eddie played revival Showcases with new members, Shane and Doc. The El-Capris received three 50-year Lifetime achievement awards for Doo-Wop.
In his final days Mokey was cared for by his granddaughter Brandy and grandson Fred.

Mokey leaves to cherish in his loving memory Daughters: Robbin (Ty) and Edith; Sons: William (Wanda), Jamal (Cynthia), Terry (Michelle), Tyrone (Diane); 8 other children from two previous relationships. He also leave behind 32 grandchildren and a host of great and great great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 28, 2022 at the Wesley Center AME Zion Church on 2701 Center Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15219. Viewing will begin at 11Am and services follows at 12pm.
