William B. Hill, affectionately known as Rashied, was born on February 4, 1947 to the late Virginia and William Hill in Steubenville, Ohio. Rashied moved to Pittsburgh as a child with his parents and brother, Cedric (Pharaoh), where they were raised in the Hill District. Rashied attended St. Richard's, now known as St. Benedict the Moor School and graduated from Schenley High School. From there, he obtained a bachelor's degree in Sociology from the university of Pittsburgh. He then went on to obtain a degree in computer science, which he utilized to work as a Computer Analyst for over 30 years before Retiring from PNC Bank in 2008. Rashied met Sharon "Portia" Hill (Dinkins) after asking her to braid his hair. He came back and asked her out on a date to the movies and they have been inseparable since that day. They got married on February 4, 1977. William was an avid fan of all sports. If anyone wanted to find him, they knew to come to the home and find him sitting in his favorite seat in the living room watching everything from rowing to football. He also had a love for Jazz music as well as Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre. Rasheid didn't have many outdoor hobbies, but everyone in the Hill District could count on seeing him and Portia outside on their daily walks smiling and waving. They never missed a day of activity together. William also loved his entire family, and they loved him just as much. The entire Dinkins clan considered him their uncle and brother, not just an in law. He was described by many as the coolest dude you could ever meet. So laid back, humble, caring and witty. Rasheid was proceeded in death by his mother: Virginia; father: William; Brother: Pharaoh; and Sister-In-Law: Lillie Wendi Dinkins.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of over 40 years Portia; 3 children: Mark, Dorcas (Tracy) and Jamila; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at the West Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation begins at 10am and service follows at 12pm. Internment at Allegheny Cemetery.
